Audio-Video Technology & Film (AVTF)* Pathway
Why Audio-Video Technology & Film?
In this program, students will learn the basics of broadcast and film production. This foundation will prepare them to pursue entry-level employment in the media industries or admission into a post-secondary education program for further study. The AVTF Pathway teaches students relevant terminology, safety, camera basics, script writing, editing and so much more. However, the greatest takeaway from the program will be the concepts of teamwork and storytelling.
The great thing about this class is that it doesn’t matter what you want to do for a living. Maybe you want to make movies, music videos or gaming videos. Maybe you want to be a television news anchor or a doctor. It doesn’t matter. The skills you learn in this class will prepare you to be a better communicator, whatever career path you decide to take.
We cannot teach you everything about production. Why? Because we don’t know everything. And that’s the great thing … we learn together. But what we can do is give you the foundation that you need to get started and that’s where every great adventure begins.
The AVTF industries are hard to get into, but this Industry Certified (as of June 2018) program, along with the networking opportunities provided here will give you the chance to get your foot in the door. We aren’t giving you a guarantee of success in life, but we will give you the preparation you need to be successful … if you want to be.
In your time in this class you will produce short films, music videos and news stories, and you’ll also have the chance to be a part of the “Blue Devil News” legacy. Use all of these to submit to various competitions and create a portfolio of your outstanding work!
